I have a cisco sip phone that grabs configuration files (just a few text files) from my computers tftp server when the phone boots up.
What would be really useful is for the phone to grab these couple of files from the router.
Is this possible? where to store the files and how to get them to the router?

It wouldn't be easy to do this as the router already runs a custom tftp server that is used by the upgrade process. You might be able to kill that and run your own server if you accept the firmware upgrade option in the web interface will not work while you do it. You'd need to put the a proper tftp server and your config files somewhere like the RW partition but you'd also have to work round the firmware trying to monitor and restart it's own tftpd when it found it not running (looking at monitor_ps.c, I think you might be OK as long as your server is also called tftpd).
